MISSION

H-PI is led by two Haitian men who love God and their country: Jean and Jean (he goes by Pitterson).

In 2008, the late Jim Cagey was called by God from St. Louis to Haiti to address the growing water crisis in the country. On his visit, he met Jean who in his last year of school. They stayed in touch over the years, and Jim came down a handful of times to keep the work going.

It wasn't until 2012 that Jean and Pitterson knew to give up their careers and devote themselves full time to water pump repair and ministry. After the earthquake that claimed over 300,000 people in 2010, the country struggled to recover with another 1 million people left without a home. The foreign aid that came focused on drilling new wells in many places, some of these wells support over 5,000 people alone. It didn't take long for these wells to break due to use, without anyone to repair them. Jean & Pitterson felt led by the Lord to repair a well by a local school in their hometown. The process of pulling up 100' wells by hand was not easy, but soon they developed a system and started answering more calls. 13 years later, they are known by so many in the country and the calls keep coming from all over. They don't keep count - but a conservative estimate has 650 wells repaired, many of those multiple times. Each well usually supports over 600 families. Jean and Pitterson and their team of volunteers always pray with the local community before repairing the well, and after its fixed they make sure everyone knows it was God who fixed it - and they witness to anyone who will listen.
